We take pride in knowing that Aisin team members are among the most giving in the world. It’s in the culture of our company to give back and make better the communities in which we operate. Whether it’s supporting the local YMCA, the United Way, or local hospitals Aisin team members AND their families always rise to the occasion. We dedicate this Facebook series, One Aisin Family, to those who are making a difference and offer sincere thanks for their commitment. Have you done something special in your community? We’d love to hear about it.
Denise Duncan from our AWA QRE team at TMMK, Georgetown, Ky., was among the first AISIN Team Member to spring into action by sewing masks to donate to Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, KY.
Pat Timberlake-Turk, AWA Sales Administration Specialist, Northville, Mich., has sewn over 130 protective face masks for medical professionals at the St. Joe’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, assisted living facilities and the Ann Arbor VA Hospital where her husband, Jeff, was recently hospitalized. “Doing this is one thing I can do, besides staying home, to help with this pandemic.”
Handsewn masks have become more than just an act of kindness – they have become extremely valuable in many parts of the country. When the AWA-LA office recently found themselves under a mandate for all essential workers to wear employer-provided reusable masks, management wanted to be prepared. Little did they know what a meaningful experience they were about to embark upon.
“We found masks on Facebook under the heading “Torrance residents making ends meet by making masks,” said Douglas Mason, General Manager, Aisin Aftermarket in Torrance, Calif. “The gentleman that posted the message has a daughter who was laid off and started to make masks at her kitchen table to help paper writing out the local community while earning some needed income,” said Mason. AWA received 50 custom made “AISIN blue” reversible masks delivered to the warehouse quickly, while it was also able to support local residents.
