AISIN is promoting science and technology as well as leadership skills to local youth through sponsorship and mentor support for FIRST Robotics
AISIN Corporation is pleased to once again serve as the principle sponsor for the annual competition taking place March 31 – April 1, 2023. This is the 14th year of AISIN’s support of FIRST, and the 7th year as principle sponsor. AISIN also provides additional support and sponsorship of two local FIRST Robotics teams, the Livonia Warriors (#2832) and the Tyros (#6861) Team.
Both teams are comprised of students from Stevenson High School, Churchill High School, and Franklin High School, all located in Livonia. Over the course of six weeks, AISIN employees mentored the students through the robot-building process, relying upon and thereby teaching the same engineering and design methods they use to create automotive components for the mobility of tomorrow.
“FIRST Robotics is a great way for us to support local communities,” said Joseph Gabiniewicz, general manager of Evaluation Engineering, AISIN Technical Center of America, and AISIN’s project lead for FIRST Robotics activities. “We are laser-focused on technology, and our design and engineering teams have a lot of knowledge and experience to offer young people. AISIN has a genuine interest in developing the skills and talent of future engineers and product developers. We have a symbiotic relationship with the students and take seriously our role as mentors.”
Gabiniewicz added that more than 3,000 students and mentors are expected to participate in the two-day competition where the Churchill High School Gym will be transformed into a robotics arena known as the “AISIN Field”.
We hope to see you this weekend, but if you can’t make it in person, be sure to check out the live feed of the event which kicks off at 10:30 a.m. on March 31st. Tune in to see AWA’s own Alan Coloske deliver a keynote speech on electrification and the future of mobility!
