Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II (left, center) visited the AISIN Group exhibit during Press Preview, Jan. 15, at the 2019 North American International Auto Show. They were greeted by Yoshihiko Matsuda (left) president of Aisin Technical Center of America, Scott Turpin (right, center) president and CEO, Aisin World Corp. of America (AWA); and Brad Owens, vice president, North American Sales Division, AWA. The VIP tour included explanation of AISIN Group’s iconic Demo Car, which features many of the systems and components manufactured by AISIN, as well as an explanation of the new Automated Driving track at AISIN Group’s 950-acre Fowlerville Proving Ground. The governor expressed interest in visiting the proving ground in the coming months. Later in the day, AISIN executives joined Gov. Whitmer, other Tier One suppliers, and executives of the Michigan Economic Development Corp. for a roundtable discussion on issues facing the auto industry in Michigan.
