AISIN Corporation today announced its partnership with industrial developer, Agracel, Inc., to develop the Marion Logistics Center (MLC) near its three plants in Marion, Ill. The announcement was made by Scott Turpin, president, AISIN World Corp. of America.
The MLC will provide operations such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, and service parts control in a 463,000-sf building in the REDCO Industrial Park, which is currently home to three AISIN manufacturing plants: AISIN Manufacturing Illinois; AISIN Electronics Illinois; and AISIN Light Metals. The plants produce numerous automotive components for several OEM customers, including Toyota, Lexus, General Motors, Honda, Mercedes Benz, and Subaru USA. Parts manufactured include door handles, door locks, sunroofs, grill shutters, electronics components and systems, and aluminum bumper supports, among many others. In total, the three AISIN plants employ more than 2,100 team members.
Turpin says the new MLC is expected to begin operations in June 2024 and will immediately begin improving efficiency and reducing costs.
“By locating the MLC in REDCO Industrial Park adjacent to our Marion plants, we expect to significantly reduce lead times for materials and transportation costs,” says Turpin. “Given the thousands of parts that will move from the plants through the logistics center and ultimately to our customers, it just makes great business sense to be geographically close.”
“Agracel is proud to partner with AISIN, REDCO, and Brinkmann Constructors on the development of the Marion Logistics Center. We have experienced great success in developing industrial facilities in Illinois, and the REDCO Industrial Park has long been on our radar,” says Executive Vice President and Director of Construction, Mark Keller. “We cannot say enough about the tremendous team effort to bring this project to fruition. Thank you to AISIN for putting your trust in Agracel and allowing us to be part of your continued success and growth.”
